Geographic Targeting
Perhaps this is the easiest way to dissect Active Domains: By geography. It is mainly service-sector businesses that benefit greatly from this application of Active Domains. A good and simple example is a bicycle repair man. He is interested in delivering only a small selection of services, and to his immediate area. Active Domains would allow him to advertise his services in distinct areas, i.e.
- mikesbikesexeter.co.uk
- mikesbikesplymouth.co.uk
- mikesbikestaunton.co.uk
- mikesbikestorquay.co.uk
- etc..
The Active Domains system allows Mike to advertise his services specifically in these areas. So, if someone looks up 'fix gears mountain bike Exeter', then google is highly likely to see the appropriate domain near the top. By contrast, without Active Domains, Mike is not likely to appear highly when compared to Exeter bike shops, even though his service is exactly what the Customer wants.
